Then pile all of those delicious breakfast toppings on top and toss the flatbreads back into the oven for a few minutes. Just scramble the eggs while you pre-bake the flatbread. At least not until this Thin Crust Breakfast Pizza showed up! Aside from cooking the bacon, these pizzas were a cinch to prepare. But I’ve never used the flatbreads for breakfast. We always keep Flatout flatbreads in the pantry, and we typically use them for wraps, taco bowls or even dessert. And this Thin Crust Breakfast Pizza was amazing! Who says you can’t have pizza for breakfast? Instead of pepperoni and jalapenos (my go-to pizza toppings), I went with scrambled eggs, bacon and bell peppers. So I grabbed some Flatout Artisan Thin Crust flatbreads and made a breakfast pizza. That meant I needed to step up my game a bit this week. Normally it’s a bowl of cereal or yogurt + granola, but we’re now in the homestretch of this year’s Tour. Not too shabby!)Īs I mentioned above, I usually eat breakfast each morning while watching the Tour. But I kinda want to be him when he retires! (As crazy as he might seem, the guys gets to travel the French countryside for 3 weeks every year. I have no idea how this guy does it every year. In 2013, he left his red devil costume at home in favor of a yellow version to celebrate the 100th edition of the Tour. Over time, he’s become a Tour de France fixture. He shows up somewhere on the course almost every single day…and he usually marks his location with a large pitchfork painted on the road. And he leaps around like a madman when the cyclists pass. He dresses as the Devil, complete with pitchfork and crazy white beard. That’s part of the fun of the Tour.īut then starting in the early 90’s, one German cycling fan took it to a whole new level. Some fans wear crazy costumes and run alongside the riders for a short distance. No matter the day or weather, fans line the sides of each day’s course to catch a glimpse of the Tour as it passes. And it has nothing to do with the actual race. But multi-tasking like this requires tasty breakfasts, like this Thin Crust Breakfast Pizza…but more on that one in a bit.īefore I leave the Tour de France talk, I need to call out one of the more unusual traditions of this great bike race. I just sit down with my computer and get to work. So that means the live coverage on most days starts around 6 or 7am. (I suspect that’s because I’m too wiped out to stay up and watch the recap show each night.) But the problem is French time is 6 hours ahead. (Of course, to ride down the slopes of those mountains, they have to first climb the slopes of those mountains. They reach speeds up to 50mph coming down the slopes of the Pyrenees and Alps. Over a 3-week period, these guys ride nearly 2,200 miles (3,500 km) around the entire country of France. Do you guys watch the Tour de France? I find the whole thing absolutely incredible. Well, to be more exact, I’ve had Le Tour on in the background while I sit at my computer doing work. Who says you can’t have pizza for breakfast? This Thin Crust Breakfast Pizza is a great way to start the day!įor the last 3 weeks, I’ve been watching the Tour de France every morning.
